The book Careers for Sports Nuts and Other Athletic Types by Ray Heitzmann is a great informational book. The book tells about occupations in the athletic department. For example the book describes jobs like physical therapy, coaching, sports communication and much more. This book is more for high school students who want to go into athletics for an occupation. I believe this book is a great book. I choose this book because I want to go into athletics; this book helped me narrow my choices.

The book Careers for Sports Nuts and Other Athletic Types reminds me of the lawyers in Inherit the Wind. In Inherit the Wind the lawyers are very successful. For example one of t he charters ran for president three times. I also recommend reading Inherit the Wind.

Early Koontz

This story started out well enough, being early Koontz, there was a lot of wasted dialogue - yah, yah, got it, move on - but there was a lot of suspense. Sadly the story ended abruptly with no crescendo, no big finish, nada. It's like he just quit. Total let down.

Not horrible ?? Not too good either!!

This effort on Koontz's part is just not up to his usual level of entertainment. One of the reasons that he's so good is that you attach to the main characters and progress through the book like a tail hooked on a cat. You feel what the character feels and empathize as if you are the object of the story. This, however, enticed me only as an observer into the life of a character I really didn't care that much about. The book had the possibility of being one of Koontz's better novels but these prospects were never realized. We have a lady hospitalized after a car accident, a fraternity hazing, a sinister corporation, a hospital with secret doors, people who aren't who they say they are - wow - what a set up! Unfortunately, it just didn't come together. Love Dean - I'll patently wait for his next installment of the Frankenstein series. bg

A wonderful and delightful book of love poems for anyone who appreciates beautiful poetry.

I have purchased and read numerous copies of “Everyman’s library pocket poets” over the years. I recently bought this 256 page hardcover edition of “Love Poems” selected and edited by Peter Washington. The wonderful book has selections from poets of the past and contemporary poets. This book is organized into the following topic areas:

Definitions and persuasions, love and poetry, praising the loved one, pleasures and pains, fidelity and inconstancy, absence, estrangement and parting, and love past. This unique collection has some of the most beautiful and enduring love poems I have ever read. All the most famous and loved poets are included in this book of love poems. The most quoted writer of all time William Shakespeare, the legendary Emily Dickinson, the dark and brooding Edgar Allan Poe, one of the most read poets Robert Frost and numerous other great poets have selections in this collection. These love poems are from poets around the world which makes it a must have volume for your own personal library collection of poetry books.

If you love poetry this is a must collection of “Love Poems” you will want to own. This short review cannot do justice to this wonderful volume.

An Understanding of Love

I am naturally drawn to tiny books and this book was no exception. I saw it and instantly fell in love with the red library binding and gold embossing on the fabric cover. This is one of those books you want to carry around with you in your pocket to read on a sunny day while sitting on a park bench.

While most of the poems were new to me, I did find lines to make any poet drown in the pure beauty of words. "In My Sky at Twilight" is a paraphrase of the 30th poem in Raindranath Tagore's The Gardener. The images are lush and mingle emotion with nature. "In Former Days" by Bhartrhari (5th Century) is witty and beautiful in its simplicity. Two lovers are so in love they forget their separateness and then drift back to being "you" and "me." The poem is a mere four lines and yet it provides a intimate look at how lovers feel when in love and when they drift apart. I loved a few lines in "The Palanquin" where a butterfly lands on delicate skin and transfers colors onto the lover's skin.

Love and Poetry
Praising the Loved One
Pleasures and Pains
Fidelity and Inconstancy
Absence, Estrangement and Parting
Love Past

You may recognize poems by Lord Byron, Edgar Allan Poe, William Shakespeare, Walt Whitman and Dorothy Parker. I was pleasantly surprised by poems by Leconte De Lisle, Pablo Neruda and Dioskorides.

You will find a wide range of love poems. This book contains selections from ancient China to modern America. These poems present the universal experience of the human heart.

This bookwas much smaller than I expected (my own fault and not necessarily a flaw) but it is filled with wonderful, wonderful love poems. I keep it on my coffee table for whenever I feel the whim to read a poem and I've read quite a few in this book. They picked some very good poems from a broad array of poets.

Claire Allen, a psychiatrist with psychic ability, has precognitive dreams that almost always come true. Since she has inherited her late Aunt Isabelle's mansion they have been occurring more and more and are very disturbing. In her latest dream she has the most mind blowing sex of her life with a stranger who happens to know her name. Imagine her surprise when Des Alvarez, her mysterious dream lover, shows up at her door the next day. Des is an FBI agent who knows the family and is investigating Claire's cousin, Kevin, for murder but he doesn't want Claire to know as that may blow his cover. Not only does he want into the house he wants into Claire and he has since he saw photos of her in the home years ago while doing work for Isabelle.

Through her Eyes is a very erotic read with a bit of dominance and submission tossed in for good measure. The mystery of the murderer and how events in the past and in the future entangle to affect the present is very intriguing. Des and Claire seemed to have some attachment to one another before they actually ever meet. Especially since Des, an admitted skeptic of psychic abilities has actually experienced Claire's erotic dream of the night before with her! These two had a special connection that was there from their fist interaction whether in the dream world or in reality. It was fun to work out the mystery along with Des and Claire and solve it Through her Eyes.

I'm in love

I've liked most of Beth Kery's books and was a little nervous starting this realizing that it was her first but I can honestly say that it is my favorite of her books. Des is everything you want in a hero and I really liked the interplay between the two. It has very graphic HOT sex scenes, but they blend in well with the story. I want to read it again.

If I was to rate my own personal top 5 favorites, this book would be on it, it has everything I love, an unexpected story line, likeable characters, a wonderful love story, and erotic situations that will take you places! Whew! Even a mystery is included. I think this is one of Beth Kery's best work, (Is it as sexy as 50 Shades, Yep!) and would highly recommend this book.

About the Author

Ellen K. Cromley is Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Community Medicine and Health Care, University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Farmington. Previously, she was Professor of Geography at the University of Connecticut, Storrs. Dr. Cromley’s research is primarily concerned with geographical patterns of health and disease, health facility location, and GIS design to support public health surveillance and intervention programs. She has published articles in geography, epidemiology, public health, and health services journals.   Sara L. McLafferty is Professor of Geography at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In her research she explores the use of spatial statistical methods and GIS for understanding health and social issues in cities, as well as gender and racial disparities in geographical access to services and employment opportunities. Dr. McLafferty has published articles in geography, epidemiology, and urban studies journals and is an Associate Editor of the journal Health and Place.

Achieve the Sexual Life you Desire

I'm a big fan of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and loved Dr. Blonna's book "Stress Less, Live More." I definitely wanted to read this book, because Dr. Blonna is the first practitioner to apply ACT to our sex lives. In "Sex ACT," Dr. Blonna shows how our minds process sex, plus he offers fascinating exercises such as mutual masturbation and mindful massage.
Who shouldn't buy this book? People looking for instructions on "how to get laid more often" will be disappointed. People who don't care about exploring their minds and emotions won't enjoy this book, and those with profound sexual issues won't gain much from it.
However, "Sex ACT" is a great book for normal, healthy folks who want to enhance their sex lives, deepen their relationships, and have more fun. I especially enjoyed reading the book with my husband and discussing some of the issues. Gay and lesbian sex falls under the umbrella of this book, so no one is left out.

Sex ACT: for Fun and Insights

I've read books by Russ Harris and Steven Hayes, two well known practitioners of acceptance and commitment therapy who recommend Rich Blonna's book. The word "therapy" in the title isn't exactly accurate, because this is not a book for people who need therapy. It's for those of us who are doing okay with our sex lives, but want to do better. Like all ACT books, it's about living life to the fullest and enjoying our relationships.
Blonna writes in a conversational style while describing how our sexual minds work. Some of the material will be more interesting to his fellow therapists, but if you stick with it you'll learn a lot about how we get stuck in unhelful grooves with our sexuality, starting right from childhood. Trying to control everything, including relationships, is one of the most challenging things to give up. I gained some real insights, and the stories and exercises kept me turning the pages.
