WARNING - This book has a printing error in that ...

The song Overnight Bag is listed on the Back Cover. It is NOT included in the contents. It's been replaced by Lonesome Highway. I contacted the publisher and when they realized their mistake they emailed me the score of Overnight Bag.
Took a few Emails but I got there in the end.
I'm now happy that they have a decent complaints department that does listen to the customer. Thanks you Ella.

Not bad...

Like most tab books there are some mistakes mostly with chord voicings. I use any video i can find to verify most of the tabs i use. But this will certainly get you started, great selection of tunes also.

Good but don't expect Overnight Bag to be in it.

From what I've gotten to so far it really seems to be a pretty good quality book. The notation is easy to follow I like the layout, lyrics are spot on. My only major disappointment is that in the amazon description it lists Overnight Bag as being one of the twelve songs. I purchased this book mainly for Shadow Play and Overnight Bag which happen to be my two favorite Rory Gallagher songs. However, Overnight Bag is not in the book. I am not able to fully learn them by ear so I wanted this product to help me through the more difficult sections. The Shadow Play main solo section seems really well done, so hopefully that makes up for it.

I've been part of this fandom for a long time, let me tell you. I was up at 4 in the morning to read Nevermore. And it was dissapointing.

Despite every precaution I got, I went ahead and bought this book. I was surely in for more ugh-ness and groans at every predicatble and melodramatic plot twist.

And yet, at the end of the day, I'm glad I read it.

There were some ridiculous plot twists. Some characters brought back unnecessarily. Some jokes that have been made far too many times.

But some twists still shocked me. I still got hit in the feels. And in the end, all was as it should be.

Give this a chance. It's worth it. It's worth the closure. The right closure.

I wondered how this book would end the series and if I'd be ok with it. It had twists and turns I never saw coming. I honestly loved the ending. I've reread the epilogue a few times. True fans of this series will like this finale.

The flight we've been waiting for.

We all thought Nevermore: The Final Maximum Ride Adventure was the final book. It was not the strongest of the series, but it was alright. Not a great ending, but not a bad one.

Maximum Ride Forever is the ending and the closure to the series we all wanted to see. It is Max at her most vulnerable, her weakest moments and yet, at the same time, her strongest. Here is the Flock at the end of the world, and for the first time, you have the feeling that not everyone is going to by flying away from this. Not everyone is making it out.

There is are so many twists, so many emtions in this one. If you were disappointed in Nevermore, this is the one you have been waiting for.

Hepburn is careful not to romanticize Lillian and Audrey's journey: this is no joy ride, though there are certainly moments of delight and laughter. The unexpected relationship that unfolds between the women and Rayne, as he becomes their caretaker and, ultimately, genuine friend, is especially moving. As she marvels at the intricacy of a sunflower, Lillian observes, 'Things are so different when you look closely at them.' This applies not only to these two remarkable women, but to the elderly in general, and certainly to this fine novel.

"Flee, Fly, Flown" is an enticing adventure that has plenty to enjoy, highly recommended reading.

There is comedy, poignancy and an unnerving mix of compassion and dispassion in how Hepburn imagines the challenges of conversations, pain, unreliable bodily functions, confusion and encounters with strangers both kind and vicious.

A must read!

You will race through this wonderfully crafted, hilariously poignant adventure. A great blend of multi-generational perspectives as the characters confront and deal with their life changing issues. I give Flee, Fly, Flown three thumbs up!

A Fun Insightful Read

Meet Audrey and Lillian, two ladies with alzheimers who feel like prisoners living at "Tranquil Meadows" nursing home on the locked floor. Lillian hatches a plan that they need to escape and go on vacation without telling anyone. They get their hands on scissors to cut off the arm bands that monitor their whereabouts, get their hands on a car (Lillian kept a set of keys to her car when it was sold to the neighbour boy), get some cash and head off. Lillian is not the best of drivers, so when they meet a nice, young man, Audrey is able to convince him to drive them to B.C. where his home is. It takes a day or two, but "Rayne" finally figures out these are not just two nice old ladies on vacation, there is definitely something wrong with them, and so the fun begins. When they do not want to get caught they decide to call themselves Lucy and Ethel, of course the youngsters they meet do not realize the irony of that. They become like a little family complete with a dog they find along the way. They share information about their lives with one another in between their stops, overnight stays and funny situations.

This is a great road trip story. We gain some insights to the world of dementia as well as the life of someone living in a nursing home that really does not want to be there. We also gain some perspective on the struggles of someone young trying to make their way in the world. The pain and anguish Lillian's family must go through not knowing where she is or if she is hurt was apparent in the brief glimpses with phone calls.

This story gives us an appreciation of what it is like to get older and lose some of your faculties. It also reminds us to be gentle and kind to others, do what you can to help them and sometimes it is important to slow down, admire your surroundings and take a vacation.

A Must Read!

This is not my usual genre of book, and when I was first approached about reading this story, I was going to turn it down. However, after reading the synopsis and thinking about it, I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did, because I LOVED it!

Lillian is a wonderful lady. I loved this feisty octogenarian. I could imagine her as a younger woman with a backbone of steel and a penchant for taking risks. I began to cheer her on, as she embarked on an amazing adventure with her friend Audrey, and a young man called Rayne.

Audrey is also a wonderful character. She is a woman who has not had an easy life, though her mousy demeanor hides her adventurous spirit. Her trusting nature is one thing I loved about her. She is probably the best friend anyone could have, as her loyalty is given to so few.

I started to read this book, expecting it to be a comedic adventure. How wrong I was! This book took me on an amazing adventure with two strong females struck down by a disease that has stripped them of freedom and dignity. I struggled to put this book down, and even then, it was grudgingly when I had to.

Lillan and Audrey, in their "sane" moments, realise that there is more to life than watching TV and taking pills in a nursing home, and plot an escape to have a holiday from the constant, unwanted attention of the well meaning nurses. Their minds, dulled by the disease at times, are incredibly sharp and curious when lucid. This made for some humorous events, including the scene where Rayne was recruited to drive the two ladies from Ottawa to British Columbia. Their journey is full of anecdotes of the lives they once had, which brought these characters to life in my minds eye. Rayne is a troubled young man, but his empathy and sensitivity towards the two older women was very touching. I liked this young man. He is kind, considerate and, although a bit selfish at times, caring. I found the ending to be a bit bittersweet, but I will find that this story will stay with me for some time to come.

Alzheimer's is a disease that, thankfully, has not affected my family. Yet. However, this story has opened my eyes to how people affected by this disease are basically prisoners to it. They have no idea that they are sick, and when the episode has cleared, there is no recollection of their behaviour or actions. However, when they are "normal", they find themselves confined or too drugged to understand. Putting a person with Alzheimer's into a home is a hard decision for a family. However, some people cannot look after their family member/s the way they need, so a home is the only option. Although I have great sympathy for the families affected, I also feel for the person afflicted by the disease. It can't be easy to find yourself in a place that can restrict your freedom, and make you feel like you have no dignity left.

Janet Hepburn has written a fantastic debut novel. I love her writing style, and the flow was wonderful. She has dealt with the subject of Alzheimer's with sensitivity and care. I would definitely read more of this author's books in the future.

I highly recommend this book to everyone, whether you know someone with Alzheimer's or not. - Lynn Worton

About the Author

Fraser P. Seitel is a veteran of five decades in the practice of public relations, beginning, he claims, “as a child.” In 2000, PR Week magazine named Mr. Seitel one of the 100 Most Distinguished Public Relations Professionals of the 20th Century.

 

In 1992, after serving for a decade as senior vice president and director of public affairs for The Chase Manhattan Bank, Mr. Seitel formed Emerald Partners, a management and communications consultancy, and also became senior counselor at the world’s largest public affairs firm, Burson-Marsteller.

 

Mr. Seitel has been a regular guest on television and radio, appearing on a variety of programs on the Fox News Network and CNN, ABC’s Good Morning America, CNBC’s Power Lunch, as well as on MSNBC, Fox Business Network, the Fox Radio Network, and National Public Radio.

 

Mr. Seitel has counseled hundreds of corporations, hospitals, nonprofits, associations, and individuals in the areas for which he had responsibility at Chase—media relations, speech writing, consumer relations, employee communications, financial communications, philanthropic activities, and strategic management consulting.

 

Mr. Seitel is an Internet columnist at odwyerpr.com and a frequent lecturer and seminar leader on communications topics. Over the course of his career, Mr. Seitel has taught thousands of public relations professionals and students.

 

After studying and examining many texts in public relations, he concluded that none of them “was exactly right.” Therefore, in 1980, he wrote the first edition of The Practice of Public Relations “to give students a feel for how exciting this field really is.” In four decades of use at hundreds of colleges and universities, Mr. Seitel’s book has introduced generations of students to the excitement, challenge, and uniqueness of the practice of public relations.

Practical Public Relations at its best!

I've been using this book for about a year, as a professor teaching Public Relations. I like it, and the students always say it's a great book. It has just enough theory, plus a lot of practical application. The high point, and what students like best, is the series of case studies. There's one in each chapter, 20 in all. I know from personal experience, having spent 15 years as a "PR Man," before turning professor, that these cases are real-life examples of what to do, and especially, what not to do! Entertaining and interesting, while still being an excellent text. Much better than other books sometimes used for Public Relations courses.

A reference you will return to again and again

I'm a graduate student in non-profit management and have always found that the best classes are the ones that use primary materials - no textbooks, please! Well, I suspend my usual reticence with this book by Seitel. I have NEVER had an easier to neogotiate, well-written textbook in all my days as a student. Seitel is meticulous in his notations, all case studies are very current (within the last 5 years), and questions emphasize the basic material but provide food for thought. The additional references and book reviews alone are worth the price of the book.

Great content aside from numerous typos

I'm using this book for as part of an Informatics course. The content is great aside from numerous, and simply embarrassing typos.

For example, the book says "sue" instead of "use". The company name Uniqlo is spelled Uniclo at one point.

This is an academic text which costs quite a bit of money and I'm baffled how they get away with such poor proofreading. Granted, one can look past the typos, but for the premium prices which are charged to students, they are frankly unforgivable.

I suppose the main problem is that most students won't be looking at reviews before they buy, but will HAVE to buy it. If you buy it, be on the lookout for the typos.

Setting the typos aside, it's a good and informative text.

This book is poorly written. It is very difficult to understand and even more difficult to read. Don't believe me? Just try reading chapter one. The Author refuses to use simple wording to explain simple concepts. Every sentence drags on and on and it never pinpoints the main idea. I am taking a graduate class and we have a mid-term exam coming up.On what? I will never know. This book comes with one resource of poorly written power points that can't even attempt to explain the material. There are no practice questions and honestly no hope. Good luck!

I think this book has a lot of good information that relates to the business world. The principles and concepts were tough to understand at times because of the in-depth explanations that seem to drag on. I have read some better marketing and management books over my college career. The book did add some value to my life and how to carry out the objectives of a company or organization.
