Highly recommended!

I tried several books to start learning FEM but was never satisfied. Some of them were overloaded with theory or essentially no theory and all software application. Finally I come across this one! A very good book to learn FEM subject for the person who already has basic knowledge of mechanics, strength of materials and matrix calculus. It's really clearly written with a very good and detailed explanation of discussed topics. All the chapters are followed by numerous examples to be solved by the reader. I was able to deal with them using the equations and examples given in regular text. The book is "software-independent" - it's not oriented towards any specific FEM package; more stress is put on general FEM theory and exemplary applications. There are several handy appendixes which helps you work through matrix calculus, equations of elasticity & solution techniques for linear algebraic eqs. Highly recommended!

I hate this book.

This is one of the most difficult textbooks to read that I've ever encountered. I think some of that has to do with the fact that the material is hard to begin with, but even still: The book constantly references equations by number (eq 5.14) and does so dozens of pages removed. That alone is super obnoxious.

Dr. Hutton was my professor for M.E. 474 [Finite Element Analysis] elective counting towards a Masters in Mechanical Engineering. We worked off his notes in 1992 before he got his work published. Brilliant man and no less quality of technical publication.

RIP Dr. Hutton.

Excellent Information

This is an excellent book for basic canine genetics and picking a breeding partner as well as other aspects of Breeding for quality show puppies.

Overall, not a good book for beginners!

While this book did have some good information, much of it was outdated and in serious need of an overhaul! The vaccination section is antiquated at best. I found serious fault with the writer's view on "barbaric" ear cropping but she seems ok with "culling" newborn puppies for mismarking! A new breeder would be better off with another information source. Those already with a solid background in breeding/showing will find useful information in this book.

I keep this book on hand before an actual breeding and all the way until my pups go to their forever homes. I find that I'm always referencing it wether I've got a litter on the way or not. It's an excellent book.

Good Story, Short Novella

THE STORY: Anna Bishop is caught in a compromising position by the new Duke of Northamptonshire, Rufus Drake. In order to extricate her, Rufus demands a kiss as payment. When the two meet again, Rufus can't seem to keep Anna from his thoughts and Anna knows that she is in danger from the handsome rake.

OPINION: I really liked the characters in this story. Anna and Rufus are really sweet together even as they argue and debate their way through their relationship. For such a short novella, I thought that both Anna and Rufus were clearly deliniated as characters. I liked them so much that I wish there was more to their story, however, I thought that this was a story that was told adequately in the length given.

WORTH MENTIONING: This book seems to be a prequel for the next book in the series as a mystery seems to be starting.

FINAL DECISION: This story is short but the couple is sweet and I liked their interactions.

CONNECTED BOOKS: RUFUS DRAKE: DUKE OF WICKEDNESS is book 4 of the Dangerous Dukes series. It can be read as a standalone.

STAR RATING: I give this book 4 stars.

I love when this author uses situations to illicit humor

I love when this author uses situations to illicit humor. The character, in the tree, was a favorite created situation. I would like the author to create more, of these situations, in her books. Life is full of absurdities that make us laugh. I enjoy romances that are playful, amusing and ends in, happily ever after. Good story.

Very Disappointed

I have enjoyed the previous books in this series and was looking forward to book four. Unfortunately it did not live up to its predecessors. The story was so short you never got to know either character and their courtship and romance was not well developed. Hoping for better with the remaining books in the series.

Berger's subjects include his familiar Parisian artists and French peasants, but there are unexpected detours?e.g., into Paul Klee's art ("Sheets of Paper Laid on the Grass") or the communiques of Subcommandante Marcos, leader of the Zapatista revolt in the Mexican state of Chiapas ("Subcommandante Insurgente"). Brilliant Reproductions of Memory Through Prose

"Photocopies" is a collection of twenty-eight stories, together with a photograph and a drawing. None of the stories is more than a few pages. Each of the "stories" is a vivid prose rendering of a person or place that left a seemingly indelible impression on John Berger's acutely refined sense of seeing. It is a collection marked by a minimalist sensibility, but not the cold, sterile minimalism found in the writing of Samuel Beckett or Gordon Lish. It is, instead, the warm, heartfelt minimalism of a writer striving to capture the fleeting, but enduringly memorable, moments of a human life.
"Photocopies" opens not with a photocopy, but with a photograph: the blurred, poorly-lighted photograph of a man and a woman standing under a tree. It is a sort of introduction to the first story, "A Woman and Man Standing by a Plum Tree," where Berger relates his memory of a woman he once met at a reading in Madrid who then turned up, several years later, at his country home in France. The woman is not identified by name. She is in her thirties, an artist and photographer who makes her living by restoring frescoes. The woman brings along a primitive, home-made plywood camera and, at the end of her visit, takes a picture of the two of them together under a plum tree:
"The two of us stood there facing the camera. We moved, of course, but not more than the plum trees did in the wind. Minutes passed. Whilst we stood there, we reflected the light, and what we reflected went through the black hole into the dark box. It'll be of us, she said, and we waited expectantly."
Unlike the photograph, the story that accompanies it, and the other twenty-seven stories in the collection, are clear, precise, vividly-rendered pictures from John Berger's memory. In this sense, Berger's use of a blurred photographic image to introduce the collection is a bit of irony. Ordinarily, a photograph is considered a very exact image of a moment in time. In Berger's telling, however, the more exact image is found in Berger's memory and in the reproduction (or "photocopy") of that memory that is rendered in prose.
"Photocopies" includes recollections of Henri Cartier-Bresson ("A Man Begging in the Metro") and Simone Weil ("A Girl Like Antigone"), as well as numerous unidentifiable, but memorable, friends and acquaintances of Berger. It also includes, in typical Berger fashion, insightful thoughts on drawing ("A Young Woman with Hand to Her Chin") and on the way that images of the body are influenced by local terrain and climate ("Island of Sifnos").
"Photocopies" is a stunning example of how a sensitive, perceptive observer can render a vivid image of the world in prose. In this sense, Berger's collection is a true work of art, a book that I highly recommend not only as entertaining literature, but as a text that merits close reading and careful study by writers and artists.

Neural Net Hardcopy

This is the first work that I have read by Mr. John Berger. Entitled, "Photocopies", it is a collection of 29 memories that he made more permanent by placing them in print. I don't know at what point a novella becomes a short story, or when the latter becomes something else again. Mr. Berger presents these 29 experiences in 180 pages, and while the number presented can be said to be great as measured by the little space they occupy, it would be an error to judge the quality of what they contain by their brevity.
There are not many Authors who can skillfully execute short literary works. By their definition they allow comparatively short spans of space and reading time to take the reader where the Author has mapped his or her trip. So what level of skill and experience can make a reader enjoy and think when provided with only a handful of words? Quite high for the former, and lengthy for the latter I think.
Not many writers can create a sentence that includes the work of both Donatello and Thelonius Monk to explain the achievement of a prison escape. The reader is also treated to metaphors that will become memories. Mr. Berger in describing the aged hands of a laborer could have slipped into cliché, or a variant on many others. However he compares the hands to, "certain old words that today are going out of use".
This volume is a remarkable collection of thoughts, observations and memories that never exceed a few pages, and in one example consumes only a single leaf. Yet they are all of interest, they provoke thought, and they illustrate what results when skill, gifts, and life experience are placed on paper.

Hello and thank you for stopping by. We are excited to share with you the journey of writing this book. This is our first book, and it pretty much happened on accident. Well, maybe I should say that it was a "divine appointment" instead (that sounds much better and gives credit where credit is due).

Adam and I were looking to create a short 20-page eBook showcasing the common mistakes that we made throughout our journey in network marketing. As we began to brainstorm and put our memories down on paper, a flood of ideas and past faux pas literally began to overwhelm our notebooks.

Every night, when we would take our daughter out for an evening stroll, we would remember more and more. As we laid our heads down on our pillows, both of us would write our sections for each chapter in the notes section of our iPhones. The brightness of our screens would glow in our faces amidst the darkenss of the room, as we would pour our hearts into the creation of this book. In a matter of 2 months, we ended up with a 158-page book. We were amazed.

We were amazed for a couple reasons. First, we wrote the entire book in the notes sections of our iPhones. Wow, that just proves you don't need anything fancy to write a book, just a great idea that you are extremely passionate about. So, if you have a book inside you, and you haven't started on it yet, we hope that encourages you.

Second, we made so many mistakes throughout our network marketing career, and we still became successful! We were still able to create a lifestyle of freedom that we are so thankful for. If you only get one thing from reading this book, it's that you can fail over and over again, and still reach your dreams.

After this book was finished we printed about 1000 pre-launch copies. The feedback we were getting was tremendous, and it solidified the purpose of this book: to help people accelerate success, alleviate rejection and elevate the profession of network marketing.

The focus of our training platform was also birthed from this book (even though we started writing it for the training platform, I guess its a chicken and egg situation). That's why we consider this book a "divine appointment". All our past mistakes and moments of hurtful rejection are all serving a greater purpose that is beyond our own journey.

Our passion is to teach those, who have their hopes and dreams riding on a network marketing business, avoid the mistakes that we made so often. These are the very mistakes that caused us unnecessary rejection. These mistakes caused others to label us "That Guy". When people experience this type of rejection, many retreat from the fight for their dreams. We would have quit as well, but we had nowhere else to go.

You may relate to our journey. You may be new to network marketing, and you want to have success in your business without putting your reputation or relationships on the line. We have great news for you, it is definitely possible, and we will teach you exactly how you can build your business by honoring people.

Perhaps you're a leader, and you are tired of hopeful newbies doing the disappearing act on you, because the fear of rejection overwhelms them and keeps them from building their businesses.

We believe this book will help your team tremendously, because it fills "The Gap." You see, there is a gap in network marketing training. When someone new joins the business, you will provide him or her your company's proven system, and also assign personal development. Both of those are the "how to's". "Helped me to believe too"

The book was the second book I purchased as an E-Book when I started in Network Marketing after "Your First Year in Network Marketing" by Mark Yarnell. Unfortunately I never got around to reading it until much later in my newfound profession. Reading this book was like a walk down memory lane. I have been guilty of at least 11 of the 21 Guys/Gals described in this book. Actually, probably more. I truly enjoyed the exercises at the end of each chapter that help drive action and confidence. My biggest take away was that is okay to be human and make mistakes and most importantly that we can learn from them. I am always amazed by the stories offered by top professionals in the industry like Adam and Michelle simply because they validate that ordinary people can and do succeed in this business just like in any other. By learning from their mistakes, persevering and believing in themselves, their products and their services. Thanks Michelle and Adam for bringing this book to life and helping me to believe too.

You need to read this boot about MLM about etiquette

What can I say...awesome book. I wish I had this when I first started in MLM. I did it all wrong now I know why. Adam and Michelle use examples that are real life mistakes that I am sure we all made (and hope newer entrepreneurs will not make). This should be one of the first books you read on you path to personal development connected to MLM. It is quick and easy to read. I have the kindle version; should have purchased the actual book to dog ear and add notes. Love it!!!
